There is an old phrase that life is ten percent what is actually happening, and the rest, ninety percent, is how you react to it. For example, no matter what is going on in your life, you can be happy and not stressed if you make sure that your reacts are happy and not stressed. But even saying that, there can be many of us that go through life simply feeling like we’re not in control. So before you just end up going through life, rather than really living it, it is time to take back some control and make some changes. Here are some things that you can do to take back control and make your life your own again.
Do Things That Scare You
If you think about your life, how many times have you stopped trying to do things simply because of feeling too afraid? Fear can stop us from doing a lot of things, but facing any fears that you have can be really empowering and help you to take control. So with that in mind, it is a good idea to do at least one thing a week that scares you or puts you out of your comfort zone. It may be taking to someone new, volunteering to do something, or simply facing a fear of taking a spider out of your home, rather than just screaming, throwing a shoe at it, and running away.
When you have debts then it isn’t going to help you to be free from anything. Plus, being in control of your finances does give you some extra freedom, simply because you are then able to do what you want to do when you want to do it. It can help you to have a great work and life balance, as well as helping you to have control of that side of your life. Curb your spending, clear any debts, and make sure you put aside some money for savings.
Don’t Allow Others To Control
If you have a partner or even family members that tend to be the ones that take control of your life and run things, then it is time to make some changes. You shouldn’t have to wait for someone to tell you to do something; if you want to do it, then it is important that you just go and do it. A popular debate at the moment along these lines is that of contraception; should you take control and do what you want to do, whether that be an abortion clinic or taking the pill? Or should you leave it up to your partner to cover that side of things? Rely only on yourself in the first instance with a lot of things, and you will have control back in your life.
Reduce Social Media Time
Social media can be a really wonderful thing, and it can be used for a lot of good things. But if you spend all of your time on there, it really can be an addiction. And can you be truly free or in control when you have an addiction? You don’t want to base your life around posting images or waiting for likes. So reducing your time on there can add some perspective and help you to take back control.
