Sleep is something which we all need to do, but it can be easier said than done and we can often find ourselves wondering how to get good sleep, so we end up lying awake at night staring at the ceiling and counting the hours until we have to get up for work. If you are looking for a way to get a better night's sleep and feel refreshed when you wake up in the morning, here are some of the things you can do.


Get a bigger bed

To start off with the discussion of how to get good sleep, you will never be able to be comfortable sleeping if you and your partner are squashed up in a tiny bed fighting for space. If you have a double bed and it just doesn’t feel like it is big enough, you can instead buy a king size bed and you will immediately notice the extra leg room when you get into bed at night.


Don’t eat late

Eating less than 3 hours before you try to go to sleep is never a good idea and it is what often leads us to stay awake all night trying to settle our stomach and our mind. When we eat, our body ingests sugar and this is converted into energy for the body… that energy will make us feel ready to get up and go and this is the total opposite of what we want during the evening. Meditate

It can make you instantly more tired and you will sleep so much better as a result of this.


Cuddle up

Cuddling up to your partner, your pillow or your pet is a great way to feel ready for sleep because cuddling something we love or cuddling up at all releases happy hormones in our brains and makes us feel safe. How else better to get good sleep?! If you have been struggling to sleep lately, try to cuddle up to your partner and you will both likely notice that you fall asleep much quicker than you used to when you slept separately.


Turn off your phone

Technology is a great thing to have in our lives and it makes the world come to us and be available at our fingertips whenever we need it. However, at night having a bright phone screen in front of our faces is the last thing we need and it will keep us alert and ready for action. To make sure you are able to sleep you need to switch off your phone before you get in bed and don’t touch it again.
